Description Sitsofe Wheeler 2005-05-21 17:53:26 UTC
Please describe the problem:
Even though "Automatically resize the window when a new video is loaded" is set
there is one particular set sequence of videos where this will not quite happen.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Download and save http://www.pixar.com/theater/shorts/kk/quicktime/kk_180.mov
2. Download and save
http://progressive.warnerbros.com/thematrix/us/med/Animatrix_Trailer_640.mov .
3. Download, save and unpack http://www.bugboysworld.com/wp-download-file.php?f=25 .
4. Start totem .
5. Play kk_180.mov (I did this by drag and dropping it). You do not have to let
it finish before going on to the next step.
6. Play Animatrix_Trailer_640.mov (I did this by drag and dropping it). You do
not have to let it finish before going on to the next step.
7. Play hhgttg_tvspot1.mov (I did this by drag and dropping it).

Actual results:
Window is the same size after step 7 as it was after step 6.

Expected results:
Window to be smaller after step 7.

Does this happen every time?
Yes, this happen every time.

Other information:
I suspect it is due to the dimensions of each of the videos (kk_180.mov is 180 x
108, Animatrix_Trailer_640.mov is 640 x 282, hhgttg_tvspot1.mov is 480 x 360)
because I originally reproduced it with a Citroen C5 advert that was the same
size as hhgttg_tvspot1.mov.

Perhaps this problem occurs because the width has become smaller but at the same
time the height became bigger on the last two videos?

Oops, forgot to mention that xine-ui doesn't show this bug.
Comment 2 Michaël Arnauts 2005-05-22 07:49:47 UTC
I can't reproduce it here, the window resizes correctly after dragging the files
to totem. Did you notice that the thgttg-trailer has black borders, maybe that's
why you think that totem doesn't resize?
Comment 3 Michaël Arnauts 2005-05-22 07:51:11 UTC
Ow, sorry, didn't notice that this was filed for totem-xine... Well, it works in
totem-gstreamer :)
Comment 4 Sitsofe Wheeler 2005-05-22 20:32:05 UTC
Just to be clarify a little it appears to be only the width that is "wrong"
after step 7 - the window is wider than the video and can be shrunk to the
correct size by pressing 1.

Is the bug still present in newer version ? Must this bug marked as NEW or OBSOLETE ?
Comment 6 Sitsofe Wheeler 2007-03-04 18:06:29 UTC
This bug is still here.

Version Information:
Ubuntu Feisty (Herd 5)
GNOME 2.17.92
totem-xine 2.17.92-0ubuntu1

It's not easy to reproduce but I've found skipping to the middle of each video and letting it play for a few seconds helped to produce the problem.

Updating version information.

(yes there are horizontal borders but not vertical borders)

The xine-lib backend was removed from Totem master. Please test whether the problem(s) you were encountering still occur with the GStreamer backend (in which case you should file a new bug).

If you are unwilling or unable to use the GStreamer backend, feel free to use alternative xine-lib based players, such as gxine.

Totem 2.26.x will still have the xine-lib backend available.
