Description Ittai Balaban 2005-05-05 23:12:13 UTC
Distribution: Fedora Core release 3.91 (Pre-FC4)
Package: Evolution
Severity: enhancement
Version: GNOME2.10.0 unspecified
Gnome-Distributor: Red Hat, Inc
Synopsis: Evolution constantly pops up annoying IMAP server error dialogs
Bugzilla-Product: Evolution
Bugzilla-Component: Shell
Bugzilla-Version: unspecified
Description:
Please describe your feature request:

My IMAP server connection frequently has errors (e.g. 'unable to
connect', or the even more mystifying error - 'success'). Since I have
Evolution polling my mail every 5 minutes, I get an annoying popup
dialog on every 2-3 such intervals.
Another relevant error dialog is: "Cannot store folder X. Error was: Y",
which happens sometimes when switching from one vfolder to another.

Why can't Evolution just complain quietly, e.g. pipe these messages to
some log which I can choose to view?

Yes I have noticed the first error message as well and consider it annoying as
well.
Maybe the message should be restricted to only appear when checking 'manually'
for new mail.
