Distribution/Version: Windows XP SP1

What Happens: Select File > Open, Then the open file dialog box appears. Select 
a folder and/or file and this error dialog appears adn the GIMP crashes:

Pango-ERROR**:file shape.c:line 75 (pango_shape): assertion failed: glyphs-
>num_glyphs>0)...

Then this error dialog appears:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program: c:\Program Files\GIMP-2.0\bin\gimp-2.2.exe
This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. 
Please contact the applications support team for more information.

It would be an appropriate post except that this problem has already been
reported numerous times, see the bug report for bug #302022 for a possible
workaround.
