Description Waseem Daher 2005-04-26 03:13:07 UTC
Distribution: Debian 3.1
Package: Evolution
Severity: normal
Version: GNOME2.8.3 unspecified
Gnome-Distributor: Debian
Synopsis: Tons of debug dialog boxes pop up
Bugzilla-Product: Evolution
Bugzilla-Component: UI
Bugzilla-Version: unspecified
Description:
Description of Problem:
Whenever I try to read my IMAP mail, I get periodic messages from
evolution (which I presume to be debug messages), sometimes blank with
just an "ok", sometimes with the path of my mailbox, sometimes a message
name, etc.

I don't have debugging enabled though, and can't seem to turn these
off!

(Sorry if this is a dup! I wasn't able to find it in the list, but one
never knows)

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Start evolution
2. Browse IMAP mail folders

Actual Results:
Miscellaneous debug dialog boxes

Expected Results:
No debug dialog boxes

How often does this happen?
Almost all the time

this has nothing to do with debugging, these are normal error messages.
since you don't want to see any dialog boxes, i assume that this is a duplicate
of bug 247373.
please reopen if i am wrong.

No, I'm not really describing the issue in bug 247373.
My dialog boxes shouldn't actually appear.

Here are some screenshots, so that you can see what I'm talking about:
http://web.mit.edu/wdaher/www/evolution/
(there are six in that directory, Screenshot.png, Screenshot-1.png ...
Screenshot-4.png)

It seems that almost arbitrary IMAP folder data is getting shown in these dialog
boxes, or sometimes no data at all!

I also got ones saying stuff like "[READ-WRITE] Action complete" and all kinds
of messages that I've never gotten when using any previous version of evolution
(e.g., 1.4, 2.0, 2.1)
Comment 3 Rodney Dawes 2005-04-29 20:39:35 UTC
That looks like it might be a faulty IMAP server. I've never seen anything like
that in Evolution. Those dialogs look like they are just IMAP server responses
though. Anyway, this is a mailer issue and not UI. I'm moving it to Mailer. If
it gets re-opened, please re-assign to the default owner of that component as well.
