GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 301918
Moving Gnome Panel to left or right side of screen icons grow to ridiculous size
Last modified: 2005-06-07 22:54:59 UTC
Please describe the problem: If the Gnome Panel is dragged to the left or right edge of the screen (or moved using the Panel Properties applet), the icons grow to about 10 cm in size (in 1280 x 1024). It is also very difficult to get the panel back to the top/bottom as right-clicking almost anywhere activates the icons instead of bringing up the Panel options. This has affected both myself and my brother. We are both running Ubuntu 5.04 with stock Ubuntu Gnome 2.10 (him in 1024 x 768, me in 1280 x 1024) if that's of help. I believe it is due to the fact that Ubuntu has the following 3 menus: - Applications - Places - System The Panel automatically scales itself and the icons to the same width as the combined width of these menus. Would suggest that the icons are not scaled in this manner as the menu then only has room for 4 icons vertically before they flow off the screen bottom. Steps to reproduce: 1. Drag the panel to the left or right of the screen - OR - 2. Panel | Properties 3. Select Orientation of Left or Right Actual results: Panel grows to enormous size and is very difficult to move back to top or bottom of screen. Expected results: Panel moves and remains a similar size to what it was at the top of screen. Does this happen every time? Yes. Other information:
