GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 301088
JPG file plugin crashes when opening camera pictures
Last modified: 2008-01-15 12:52:32 UTC
Please describe the problem: Some JPG files (only ones created by my Olympus 410 digital camera) cause gimp latest stable release of Win gimp to crash. Previous versions worked with no problem. Steps to reproduce: open a jpg file created by Olympus camera via any method (open from explorer, file-open in gimp, drag and drop etc) Actual results: Gimp starts up OK, the file loading progress bar completes then windows displays the standard program crash ("jpeg.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry... Please tell microsft about this problem") error message which allows you to send an error report Microsoft (!). After clicking don't send, you get a gimp error message box saying Plug-in crashed: jpg.exe ("C:\Program Files\GIMP-2.2\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins\jpeg.exe") After clicking OK, Gimp still works fine, but image has not been opened Expected results: image opens Does this happen every time? Happens everytime I open Olympus generared images (which worked in previous versions of gimp). Other jpgs generated from other apps (such as scanner etc) open with no problems Other information: Running WinXP SP2 with latest updates. WinGIMP 2.2.6, jpeg.exe dated 11 April 05 I can send a sample image if required (images are 2272x1704 24bit 314dpi according to EXIF properties).
