Description lsof 2005-04-17 19:03:22 UTC
Distribution/Version: FC4t2

I have a pgp signed message with a red warning at the bottom "Invalid signature".
This isn't true - if I click the button next to it, it tells me "Cannot check
signature", which is the real problem.

The "invalid signature" message is wrong and misleading because it implies the
message has been altered in transmit.

Please can someone confirm this?
I see it every day.
Comment 2 Not Zed 2005-07-29 02:06:19 UTC
invalid/can't check - it can't be validated, what's the difference, it means the
same thing.
Comment 3 lsof 2005-07-29 06:40:39 UTC
No it doesn't.

"invalid" means that the signature is invalid, i.e. the message has been
tampered with
"can't check" means it can't check the signature - it might have been tampered
with, it might not.
