Description Gregor Shapiro 2005-04-16 21:34:23 UTC
Please describe the problem:
Trying to load a .jpg I get a Windows error message that jpeg.exe has
encountered a problem and has to be shut down. Please tell Microsoft about this
problem (I choose not to). Subsequently a GIMP error message box to the same
intent displays.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Install version 2.2.6 (all default settings no image types associated to the
application)
2. Start GIMP
3. Open a jpg

Actual results:
I get a Windows error message that jpeg.exe has encountered a problem and has to
be shut down. Please tell Microsoft about this problem (I choose not to).
Subsequently a GIMP error message box to the same intent but identifying the
path to the executable displays.

Expected results:
The image should load (It does in version 2.2.4)

Does this happen every time?
Yes

Other information:
On the first installation of version 2.2.6 (I uninstalled and reinstalled and
still reproduced the crash) The startup after installation hung at
'newsprint.exe' I had to use the big switch to shut down and then restart. The
subsequent installation did not hang during GIMP startup but still did not load
my jpeg.
I am running Windows XP professional Swedish language version on a 3.0 GHz Dell
5000.
