Description Robin Cook 2004-08-10 12:55:17 UTC
When trying to select multiple messages singlely (for moving of deletion),
Evolution locks up the mouse and changes the pointer to the window resizing
icon (upper left corner). I can move the pointer around but it won't
change to the pointer icon and I cannot click on anything else. I have to
use crtl-alt-F2 to get to a terminal to kill X so I can restart it.

This but was incorrectly assigned to my team. Reassigning to the qa
leads, so that they can figure out who is best able to fix it.
Comment 2 Radek Doulik 2004-08-11 14:34:29 UTC
what do you mean by "trying to select multiple messages singlely".
could you please provide more detailed explanation how to reproduce
the problem?
Comment 3 Robin Cook 2004-08-11 22:55:12 UTC
The process that I am doing is either in the Inbox or other local
folders in "On This Computer" and trying to select a number of emails
(There are usually 10 to 40 messages that I want to select for either
moving or deletion.) I select the first one then hold the ctrl key and
start selecting the others I usually get 3 or 4 selected when the
problm occurs and it happens every time I do it this way. If I select
them by selecting the first one then holding the shift and selecting
the last one the problem doesn't occur.
Comment 4 Radek Doulik 2004-08-16 14:10:06 UTC
I am unable to reproduce it. Please try to use a newer snapshots and
reopen the bug if it still happens.
Comment 5 Robin Cook 2004-08-21 05:14:24 UTC
Yes this still happens in 1.5.93. Though after testing a bit I think
I have a better idea of when it is happening. After selecting a few
messages, if I select one and then accidently start dragging instead
of completely lifting up on the mouse button before moving is when it
does it.
Comment 6 Not Zed 2004-08-25 14:57:15 UTC
what window manager and what theme are you using.

if you're getting the left-corner pointer you are dragging.
Comment 7 Radek Doulik 2004-08-25 15:03:00 UTC
do you get just the left corner cursor or does it have a page icon
attached to it as well?
Comment 8 Robin Cook 2004-08-26 00:36:42 UTC
I am using Metacity 2.8.1 and it is just the left corner cursor only.
But once it goes to the left corner cursor the mouse is basically
useless. I can move it but can't click on anything (right, left, or
middle buttons) I have to use ctrl-alt-F2 to get to a terminal to
completely kill X.
Comment 9 Radek Doulik 2004-08-26 14:23:15 UTC
I tried with metacity 2.8.1 and 2.8.4, without success. What distro do
you use? Are you sure all your packages are uptodate?

Comment 11 Robin Cook 2004-08-27 23:08:42 UTC
I am using Sourcemage and yes all the packages are up to date. I am
the maintainer for the gnome section so I definately keep up to date
on it.
