Description Stephen Holmes 2004-05-29 12:47:26 UTC
Description of Problem:
All some Junk mail to accumulate - should only take 30 seconds :-)

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Open the junk mail folder and 'Select All' (Ctrl-A)
2. Drag the highlighted mails to the Junk folder
3. The Trash folder does not activate as a drop target

Actual Results:
Trash folder in the tree view does not become a drop target but the other
folders do.

Expected Results:
That I can trash my Junk! It's illogical to provide a 'Delete' option on
the context pop-up menu but not allow the mails to be dragged to the Trash
folder.

How often does this happen?
Every time.

I think this is a duplicate request.
Reassigning to mailer.
Comment 2 Stephen Holmes 2004-06-11 23:11:40 UTC
Still present in 1.5.9 and I can't find the duplicate.
Comment 3 JP Rosevear 2005-01-26 06:11:07 UTC
Well, this is because the trash folder is not "real". Its just a
representation of your deleted (but not permanently) mail. I'll let
product design take a look.
Comment 4 Rodney Dawes 2005-01-31 20:35:59 UTC
Hrmm. I can't seem to drag any mail to either my Junk or Trash folder.
However, if the Trash folder is going to accept drags, it should
probably mark the Junk mail as deleted also. That's the behaviour I
would expect.
Comment 5 Stephen Holmes 2005-02-01 01:33:40 UTC
As other container elements in the tree view are drop targets it would
seem logical to assume the same for Junk & Trash. Whether or not
they are real or virtual containers doesn't alter this consistency
argument.
Comment 6 Jakub Steiner 2005-02-01 08:24:08 UTC
I see no controversy about the proposed behaviour.

Junk "folder" should accept drags to mark selected messages as spam.
This DnD interface suplicates the toolbar button functionality.

Similarly, dragging to trash should mark messages deleted for messages
already marked as spam.

Anna, do we need user testing for this?
Comment 7 Not Zed 2005-02-08 08:08:58 UTC
hitting the 'delete' button or ctrl-d is the way to delete mails.

I can't even drag to the junk folder. that doesn't accept either.
using v. 2.0.3.

Why is it such a problem to just add it back? People resist change,
yet it was a good feature. Is this resolved in the newer versions?
