Description aaron 2004-04-20 19:09:00 UTC
Create a news account. Go to it, try to open it. Nothing is there.

Why don't we at least have a "You haven't subscribed to any news folders,
select tools-> Subscribe to Folders to do so." message...

Better, the subscriptions should be in the account settings and creation tool.

Still valid in 3.2.3 after creating a news account: No hints.

Fix should be similar to something like

#. there is some info why the message list is empty, let it be something useful
#: ../mail/message-list.c:4666 ../mail/message-list.c:5086
msgid "Generating message list"

#: ../mail/message-list.c:4900
msgid ""
"No message satisfies your search criteria. Change search criteria by "
"selecting a new Show message filter from the drop down list above or by "
"running a new search either by clearing it with Search->Clear menu item or "
"by changing the query above."

GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/Community/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new enhancement request ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evolution/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
