GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 253298
Mail message window can not be closed with ESC key
Last modified: 2013-09-10 14:02:52 UTC
If I open a message window for reading I can not close it with ESC. If I open a mesage window to compose a new mail or to compose a reply it can be closed using ESC. One difference I noticed is that in the first case the window appears to be draw twice.

The bug you marked as duplicate refers to a dialog box, not to the message window. Also, this bug still exists on 1.5.8.
Esc does close the composer now.
Just tried it with Debain package 1.5.9.1-1, and it still does not work. Please note that my original bug refers to opening a message window for READING, not composing a new email.
do we really want to do this?
I don't know if you want to keep it, but this was the behaviour with evolution 1.4. Also, using ESC to close the window is very usefull when reading many messages in a row.
alight. it's been decided that this is not a bug. the GNOME HIG says that windows should not be closed by Esc, only dialogs should close on Esc.
So, there is a bug, the composer window does close using ESC :)
