GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 247838
Text reversed as you type in a replied-to e-mail
Last modified: 2003-08-25 16:08:30 UTC
Description of Problem: I received an e-mail today, and hit 'reply'. When the reply compose window appeared, the cursor was not at the beginning, but immediately after the date ('On Fri, 2003-08-22') If I typed there, it worked correctly. If I click before the 'On' to insert text, everything I type is reversed, as I type it. (Text appears to the right of cursor as I type). Looks like this: .egassem deilper eht fo tnorf ni epyt ot yrt I fi sneppah ylno tI On Fri, 2003-08-22 at 13:10, ... (Original Message continues) This ONLY occurs on THIS specific message. Never seen it before or since. It appears that it's only if I type in the first 16 characters of the reply that it happens. Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Download and save http://www.ericksonfamily.com/bugzilla/mbox.bug 200002. Import mbox.bug into Evolution (File..Import..Single File..Type: Mbox) 3. Hit 'reply' to specific message 4. Click within first 16 bytes of reply 5. Type Actual Results: Text is reversed as you type it. Expected Results: Text to be typed normally, with cursor advancing normally. How often does this happen? Every time I try to reply to that message. Additional Information: Same thing happens on Evolution 1.4.3 running on a Gentoo installation, as well as a Red Hat 8 installation, with this e-mail message. A simple workaround is to type the text somewhere else (kwrite, etc.), and paste it into the body of the message. Pasted text is not reversed.
Created attachment 42843 [details] mbox file with single bad message in it.
