Description Henry Jia 2002-10-30 15:31:19 UTC
It is important to support central deployment.

The scenerio is:
The system admin can deploy evolution on some server in an enterprise
enviroment and set the basic setting for the users. Then all the users can
use evolution with these settings. Also, if he/she wants to change some
setting, it's flexible for him/her to do so.

setting target to 2.5; reassigning to harish.

according to http://go-evolution.org/Evo2.6#Misc Evolution Gconf tools (see
http://live.gnome.org/Evolution_2fGConfTools ) should perhaps become part of
evolution.

though this contradicts to the plan to remove account information from gconf:
http://go-evolution.org/Evo2.6#Misc

sigh...

Well, it is okay for conflicting proposals to be debated in the planning page -
they should be resolved by the time we whip up the tasks list
Comment 3 André Klapper 2006-08-22 22:27:40 UTC
61% want better admin tools -
http://primates.ximian.com/~federico/docs/2006-GUADEC/how-much-faster/img28.html

get real, fix this for 2.9.
Comment 4 Matthew Barnes 2012-06-16 23:01:51 UTC
Moving account information out of GConf to plain text files should help here.

In any case, this is a very broad issue and isn't Evolution-specific. It needs to be addressed at a desktop-level and not left for every app to solve in their own incompatible way.

Closing as WONTFIX since I don't plan to change the architecture explicitly to address this.
