GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 23176
"Save as JPEG" hangs when editing image comments
Last modified: 2009-08-15 18:40:50 UTC
Package: gimp Version: 1.1.25 Name........: Trevor Johnson Email.......: trevor@jpj.net Platform....: FreeBSD 4.1-STABLE 2000-07-29 i386 GIMP Version: 1.1.25 GTK Version.: 1.2.8 WM/Version..: sapphire/current -- Other system notes: GIMP and GTK+ compiled from the FreeBSD ports -- -- Problem description: Editing the image comments in the "Save as JPEG" window can cause a hang which prevents further use of the "save as" function. -- -- How to repeat: Make the "Save as JPEG" window appear. Type or paste into the "Image comments" box some text, until the first line wraps (80 characters is more than enough), followed by two newlines (when pasting, a full line of text with one newline is enough). The cursor will be on a blank line. Now backspace as though you were trying to remove the blank line. The partial line of text above it will appear twice. Now click the "OK" button. The "Save as JPEG" window will hang, and you won't be able to "save as" any more, though other operations will be possible. -- -- Other comments: This is present in 1.1.24 too. -- ------- Bug moved to this database by debbugs-export@bugzilla.gnome.org 2001-01-28 10:58 ------- This bug was previously known as bug 23176 at http://bugs.gnome.org/ http://bugs.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23176 Originally filed under the gimp product and general component. I couldn't reproduce this bug using GIMP 1.2.3 (Win2000 and Linux) or GIMP 1.3.10 (Linux). Besides, the comment field in 1.3.x now uses the new GTK 2.0 GtkTextView/GtkTextBuffer widgets iso the deprecated GtkText widget. Therefor, unless anyone objects, I propose to close this bug.
This works for me as well (1.2.3, Solaris and Linux) but the bug report mentions FreeBSD. So this problem could be OS-specific and we cannot close it until some FreeBSD user can confirm that it works for them. We need more *BSD testers...
The problem is not reproducable with FreeBSD 4.7-STABLE and gimp 1.2.3 (reported on gimp-developer Sat, 04 Jan 2003). I think we can safely assume that the problem has been fixed a long time ago.
The fix is assumed to be part of the stable release 1.2.3. Closing this bug.
