Description tillemaj 2002-08-23 23:35:29 UTC
Package: Evolution
Priority: Normal
Version: 1.0.8
Synopsis: To/CC Fields do not allow local email addresses w/o machine name
Bugzilla-Product: Evolution
Bugzilla-Component: Mailer

Description:

If I want to send email to another user on my local machine (or to an
alias
on my local machine), evolution doesn't allow me to do this. Netscape
doesn't either (which is a bug), but most other mailers allow me to do
this.

So sending email to 'john' is bad, but 'john@localhost' is okay. I'd
like
to be able to just do 'john'.

Why? One reason is at work, we have local aliases on our machines
to send mail to anyone in the lab just like they were a local user,
makes sending email that much quicker ;-)

Another reason, is if I want to send mail to another account (for
example
to make it easy to move to my PC), I'd like to use my local alias.

True, you can get aruond it by doing alias@machine, but it'd be nice
to just use alias. That's yet another of my favorite reasons to stick
with
VM & Xemacs (for mail at least, I think the calendar/pilot synching is
much
nicer with evolution!)
