GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 226958
can't find a text search for the calendar
Last modified: 2013-09-13 00:55:20 UTC
Package: Evolution Priority: Normal Version: 1.0.3 Synopsis: can't find a text search for the calendar Bugzilla-Product: Evolution Bugzilla-Component: Calendar Description: not a bug really: I can't find a full-text search in _all_ my calendar entries (not only for one month) Unknown reporter: bernd@komplett.cc, changed to bugbuddy-import@ximian.com. Setting qa contact to the default for this product. This bug either had no qa contact or an invalid one.
Can't recall 1.0.3, however in 1.0.7 stable, in the calendar you can search "Any field contains","Summary contains","Description Contains" and "Comment contains" a text string. However this only works highlighting the day if month for the appointment, if you have such month visible in the calendar, so I have to agree with you.
Oops, didnt' mean to mark this as 1.2.
comment #1 by gerardo is still valid in 2.3.4.

This bug makes recurring yearly or far-future appointments pretty much useless for me. For example, let's pretend I have a recurring yearly appointment to renew the gnome.org domain name on 22-Jul-2006. I also have a bunch of other similar renewals for other domains: novell.com, suse.com, etc. There's no way I can find them again. Once they're in evolution, they're lost, like evolution is a black hole for my data. I *could* manually search through each month (maybe each year, if I renew for 5 years each time), but then I *could* also keep a pen and paper next to my desk with yearly events on them (actually, this now seems to be a good idea). This bug has been open for three years.
this has been fixed in 2.11.3 and will be included in the upcoming stable 2.12. you can search for text in any field of an appointment. you will not get a list back or something like that, but you can easily take a look at the mini calendar and see the highlighted dates that include your search results.
