GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 220207
evolution (1.0.2) doesn't accept local email addresses
Last modified: 2002-04-15 04:26:40 UTC
Description of Problem: I'm using NIS in my network to distribute email aliases so when I send an email to anyone on my network I can just use their username as an email address. Evolution doen't consider this to be a valid address (perhaps because there's no '@' in it?). This forces me to type the full domain name you see in my email address (shudder!) for every recipient I specify (which could easily be 10s of people). Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. try to send email to 'feleus' 2. evolution complains 3. I have to type in the complete address Actual Results: typing frenzy could occur :-) Expected Results: it should just accept this like every other email client I've seen or used (kmail, balsa, xc-mail, pine, mutt, elm, netscape) How often does this happen? always Additional Information: some mail clients have a sort of 'default domain' which gets appended in these cases. That would solve the problem. (NOTE: I'm using IMAP because of another problem which I'll send another bug report/feature request about. And I'm running RH7.2, not 7.1, but is isn't in the list.)
