Description rakarra 2001-01-27 18:13:44 UTC
Package: panel
Version: 1.2.1
Severity:

>Synopsis: Asclock_applet always causes panel to segfault
>Class: sw-bug
System: Linux RedHat Beta 7.0/Exceed 6.0 X server for Win9X

>Description:
This is an easily duplicatable problem -- it happens every time I try to start up -any- panel applet. Instead of the applet showing up, I get a GNOME error reporting that both the panel and whatever applet I was trying to start up had exited with a segmentation fault.

>How-To-Repeat:
(See above) I should note that the panel and applets worked fine in RedHat 7.0 beta when I was using the Linux XFree86 4.0 X server. Also, using the version of panel that came with RedHat 6.2 with Hummingbird's Exceed 6.0 for Win98 worked as well (in fact, I've used GNOME with Exceed ever since it started shipping with RedHat, and this is the first I've had an incompatability problem). Panel 1.2.1/RedHat 7.0 does not seem to work with Exceed.. it segfaults every time. The regular built-in panel buttons (like the ones for logging out, menus, help, and so forth) don't cause a problem -- it's adding an applet that causes the crash.

Subject: Panel + applet + Exceed 6.0 + segfaults.

I recently sent in a bug about how panel was segfaulting with any applet
when I was using Exceed X server... the problem seems to have fixed
itself somehow. I logged out and logged back in again, and now there are
no crashes.. So fortunately there don't seem to be any incompatibilities
after all!
