Description Mattias Eriksson 2001-07-23 09:45:27 UTC
I have a redhat 7.0 running kernel 2.2.19 with the $HOME mounted over NFS.
The NFS server is a SUN Sparc Solaris 7.

When I run evolution I get a fnctl error:
Failed to get lock using fnctl(2): Invalid argument.

I had this problem on anohter system too, then running debian woody kernel
2.4.1 (I think). The NFS server then was a BSD I think (or maybe
solaris...).

It happens when I tries to view any mail including the welcome mail, so it
shouldnt be that hard to reproduce.

A workaround for this is to recompile it with dot locking and no file
locking. (This is not as easy as it sounds...) another way around it is to
just move the evoluiton dir out of the NFS partition and make a symlink.

Moving this to blocker, since we shouldn't crash. Mattias: if you
could get us a stack trace of the crash, we'd appreciate it. Thanks.
