GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 204996
can not access smbfs mounted mail spool
Last modified: 2013-09-10 14:02:36 UTC
Package: Evolution Priority: Blocker Version: 0.11 Synopsis: can not access smbfs mounted mail spool Bugzilla-Product: Evolution Bugzilla-Component: Importers Description: I still use Balsa as a backup mailer, and it can access my SMBFS mounted mail spoolfully, including deleting mail from it. Evolution complains that it can not lock the spool .. can't access it at all. This has been a problem for as long as I have been running Evolution (over a month) Unknown reporter: jkay@home.com, changed to bugbuddy-import@ximian.com.
Betting that this is related to the NFS problems reported lately, but can't confirm that. Does it crash? or just refuse to open the spool?
Not an importer issue is it? Sounds like the problem Zucchi was having months back with NFS
do you have `camel-lock-helper` installed? does it run when evolution goes to check that mail spool?
No, I have a rather vanilla redhat 7.1 install; no camels at all ;) there is no crash, Ev continues to import my POP mail as it complains about not being able to lock the local NFS mounted box: Error while performing operation: Can not lock /mnt/mail/Mailbox As before, Balsa retrieves this mailbox with no troubles.
argh, I didn't mean that camel-lock-helper is a package, I meant do you have a binary on your system called camel-lock-helper? It will probably be in /usr/sbin but systems may differ.
Yes, there is such a binary .. explain how I can monitor if it pops up during mail retrieval .. Im having trouble seeing it in TOP and gTop, since it all happens so quickly.
notzed: can you help him debug? I don't know enough about that code to be much use.
What is the exact error message, it should contain further important information.
The exact error is: Error while 'Fetching Mail': Couldn not lock '/mnt/mail/Mailbox' and that's it, complete with punctuation.
