Right click on Places menu items should open context menu

When you right click on a mounted volume in the places menu, you should see the same menu as when you right click on this mounted volume on the desktop. For now, right click behaviour is the same as left click, which is inconsistent. It's also very boring to eject a CD if you don't display mounted volumes on the desktop Other information: Gnome developers from all countries, I love you !
Yes, the right-click does something different than what is expected, which is even worse than it doing nothing. I would take this further and allow the right-click for other bookmarks in the menu (and DnD, if possible), i.e. right-click the desktop bookmark and view it's properties, copy it, etc.

Lionel: that's nice, but... wow... it totally breaks the way menus are working :-) Right click menu is better.
Vincent : indeed, I don't want gnome to be another "start-menu-operating-system" like others. ;-) Right click is consistent enough

It may break the way menus work today, but it's very intuitiv. The context- menu is not very discoverable. Also I've never seen context menues on menu- lists. It's not consistent either.
This same problem affects all items in the Places menu...if you right click on one of those folders, thinking you'll get a context menu (since you get context menus in the Applications menu)...you'll be surprised. Renaming the bug since it's more general than the title hints.

I also noticed the lack of RMB support in Places -> Recent Documents today. To me it would seem natural to be able to do the same things here as I could on the file in Nautilus. As it is now I can only "open" the found entries, not do delete, or rename or Open With. It would be really nice if this worked because Recent Documents is one handy way to find files you have been working with. Thanks! /Mathias

Rightclic on Menuitems works and is implemented for "Applications" and "System". Example: 1. Browse "Applications -> Accessories" 2. Rightclick on "Calculator" 3. A menu pops up, giving you a few options It shouldn't be too hard to implement that for plugged devices in "Places"... The problem I see is the duplication of this feature. You can unmount devices... 1. ...on the desktop by rightclicking the device icon. 2. ...in nautilus by rightclicking the device icon in the side pan 3. ...in nautilus by clicking the eject icon next to the device in the side pane 4. ...in nautilus /media/ by rightclicking on the device folder And now you want enother way which would some it up to 5 ways (maybe there are even more), which is too much, I think. We should rather consider a way to display devices more intuitiv. Regards Martin

I've dropped context menus in applications menu anyway, since this breaks with GTK+ 3 and it was always a bit broken (not possible to have popup for items with a submenu)
