GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 172577
Blank Windows share name causes Samba to crash
Last modified: 2005-04-06 22:23:58 UTC
Please describe the problem: The shares-admin program by default does not specify a Samba share name. Unfortunately, if this field is left blank, there will be a blank section in the smb.conf file and Samba will refuse to run. Steps to reproduce: 1. Create a new share, leaving the "Share Properties/Name:" field blank. 2. Restart Samba. Actual results: Samba refuses to start, leaving a "Empty section name in configuration file" message in log.nmbd. Expected results: share-admin should refuse to accept a blank share name. Does this happen every time? Every time. Other information:
