for hyperlinks in Gedit, in the form of a Gedit plugin for example, so that
"http://..." and "ftp://..." text snipsets would be transformed to cliquable items.

This would be a good candidate for a third party plugin, but we are not considering putting this as a core plugin in gedit. Closing the bug.
