Description abiword 2005-03-11 15:28:56 UTC
Please describe the problem:
This was originally filed with AbiWord
(http://bugzilla.abisource.com/show_bug.cgi?id=8608), but they advised me it was
a gnome-print bug and to file a report here.

I have lpd configured with two queues, each for a different printer. Each of
the queues works fine and I can specify either queue via 'lp -d <queue> <file>'
and the file will print at the correct printer.

Here's my /etc/printcap settings:

tsgcolor|TSG Color Phaser:\
        :sh:\
        :rm=tsgcolor:sd=/var/spool/output/tsgcolor:lf=/var/log/lpd-errs:
doccenter|TSG Document Center:\
        :sh:\
        :rm=h114ps432:sd=/var/spool/output/h114ps432:lf=/var/log/lpd-errs:

In AbiWord 2.2.5 (built from the FreeBSD Ports collection), when I bring up the
print dialogue it lists four options:

Create a PDF document
Generic Postscript
doccenter (via lpr)
tsgcolor (via lpr)

If I choose tsgcolor, it prints via tsgcolor just fine, but if I choose
doccenter, the document is printed via tsgcolor. No errors are logged to the
console, the /var/log/lpd-errs, or the default system log file.

I should also add that if I comment out either printer in /etc/printcap, then
restart lpd, I can print to the remaining queue via AbiWord just fine.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Configure lpd with multiple printers
2. Tell an application with a gnome-print dialogue to print either printer
3.

Actual results:
Prints to the same printer, no matter which you select.

Expected results:
Print to the correct printer.

Does this happen every time?
yes

Comment 1 Jody Goldberg 2005-03-11 15:31:47 UTC
interesting. Would you mind testing with the latest release of gnomeprint ?
2.10.0 ?
Comment 2 abiword 2005-03-11 21:54:07 UTC
Sorry, but I cannot easily do this as I'm just running what's available in the
FreeBSD ports collection.
Comment 3 abiword 2005-03-16 16:12:41 UTC
You're in luck. The FreeBSD gnome-print port was upgraded to v2.10.0 and the
problem remains the same.
Comment 4 Jody Goldberg 2005-03-16 23:25:04 UTC
got it.
The patch will be in 2.10.2
Comment 5 abiword 2005-04-05 15:19:47 UTC
I can confirm the fix in FreeBSD port libgnomeprintui-2.10.2.
Comment 6 abiword 2005-04-05 15:55:19 UTC
Correction, make that libgnomeprint-2.10.3.
