GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 169335
font colour for applets(panel?) should be customisable
Last modified: 2005-03-05 22:52:26 UTC
When you make the panel fully transparent on a dark background, the font on the applets that support transparency become unreadable due to the font being black. Either transparency should take the background color into account and compensate for this, or the font color for applets should be customisable so the user can select a color that doesn't cancel out on the background color.
You are correct the applets font colour is set to black. However if you set the panel only semi-transparent you are still able to read everything. I would not mind a customisable font colour. Implementing an auto-panel-background-colour would be quite difficult; imagine a wallpaper changing from bright to dark horizontically. what font colour should be picked then? a small part of the panel would be harly readable in any case.
