Description Paul F. Almquist 2005-02-01 19:09:39 UTC
The file open dialog has no way to key in a path to any desired location. The
user is stuck having to click their way along which can be rather slow.
Sometimes the desired path may be elsewhere on the screen and can be copied and
pasted in if there was a text box to paste into. There used to be one in v1.2.x
Also it would be nice to be able to right click on a directory to open it
instead of having to double click. I tried this an discovered the "show hidden
files" option which I had been hunting for. The right click for hidden files is
not mentioned in the help. Also the help text mentions ../ and ./, neither
of which are displayed in v2.2.3. The help also says "Three buttons at top of
window: Create a file, Delete File and Rename File are self-explanatory." These
buttons do not exist either.

This has been reported about a million times. See bug #136541 for
the discussion why it's gone.

Also note that there's File->Open Location to paste the location into.
Alternatively you can paste into the dialog that opens if you press Ctrl-L in
the file chooser.
