GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 165347
Misleading help on image preview in main tool box
Last modified: 2008-01-15 12:46:35 UTC
In the GIMP Help 2 (2.0.6) chapter 3.2 main Toolbox a "Active Image" iconic button is described. It does not excist in the versions 2.2 -2.2.3 of Gimp for Windows. Please refer to this copy of description:( Active Image: (This is a new feature in Gimp 2.2) In Gimp, you can work with many images at once, but at any given moment, one of them is the "active image". Here you find a small iconic representation of the active image. Clicking on it brings up a dialog with a list of all the currently open images, allowing you to make a different one active if you want to. (Clicking on the window where the image is displayed will accomplish the same thing, though.)
Yes, it does, but it is disabled by default. To enable it, go to the Toolbox page of the Preferences dialog, and check the line "Show active image". This change in the default behavior was made after the section you quoted was written -- thank you for pointing it out. I will fix the documentation.
Fixed in cvs HEAD of gimp-help-2: 2005-01-26 Bill Skaggs <weskaggs@primate.ucdavis.edu> * src/using/toolbox.xml: add English note pointing out that Image Preview is disabled by default in 2.2; fixes bug #165347.
