Description Natalie 2005-01-22 21:57:28 UTC
Include cursor brushes in the GIMP or make them separately available
Comment 1 Sven Neumann 2005-01-23 00:35:44 UTC
You will attach the brushes here, won't you?

Comment 3 Joao S. O. Bueno 2005-01-23 03:12:37 UTC
This will be a fine addition even to standard GIMP when the idea of categories
for brushes, patterns, palettes and fonts that has been discussed in the devel
list gets implemented.
Comment 4 weskaggs 2005-01-25 00:33:24 UTC
Gosh, now we will be able to have brush cursors for cursor brushes. What will
they think of next? :-)
Comment 5 Raphaël Quinet 2005-01-25 10:38:06 UTC
Wouldn't it be better to increase the brush spacing to around 100? Currently, the
brushes have their default spacing set to 10, which leads to ugly artifacts. Even
if these brushes will not be used often for drawing continuous lines, it would be
better to ensure that they look reasonably good in that case. 100 looks better.
Comment 6 Michael Schumacher 2005-07-09 01:23:31 UTC
One thing to keep in mind is that the brushes are licensed under the GPL, so
their use in non-GPL images is problematic (which is one of the reasons why it
is not advised to license other things than source code under it, btw).
Comment 7 Sven Neumann 2005-07-09 09:44:17 UTC
Using a brush doesn't make the image a derived work. Just as using a GPL
application to draw an image doesn't make that license apply to the image.

Brushes with spacing set to 100
Comment 9 Martin Nordholts 2009-07-15 23:28:36 UTC
These brushes are not generic enough to be included in the vanilla GIMP install. Someone could pick these up for the separate gimp-data-extras package though perhaps... But since no one is maintaining that I don't see the point in keeping this bug report open. Closing as WONTFIX.
Comment 10 Martin Nordholts 2009-07-15 23:30:09 UTC
I'm cool with reopening this when there is a patch attached against gimp-data-extras that adds these resources along with tags for them btw.
