GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 163334
'thunderbird' not recognized
Last modified: 2005-05-22 16:02:55 UTC
The default applications program included in control-center to set prefered applications for mail and web don't include support for Evolution 2.0 and the upcoming 2.2. The current 2.8.1 version looks for evolution-1.6 while the binary is named evolution-2.0. Current CVS for gnome 2.9.x/2.10 also has this problem. I don't think it is wise to ship gnome 2.10 without evolution 2.0 and 2.2 getting recognized. It would also be nice to recognize mozilla thunderbird as mailclient (thunderbird as executable name).
The CVS has mozilla thunderbird: { N_("Thunderbird"), "mozilla-thunderbird", "mozilla-thunderbird -mail %s", FALSE, FALSE}, which distribution are you using to get thunderbird for the command name ? BTW I've fixed the evolution part in the CVS: 2005-01-08 Sebastien Bacher <seb128@debian.org> * gnome-default-applications-properties-structs.c: add evolution-2.0 and evolution-2.2 to the mailers list (Closes: #163334).
Thunderbird 1.0 has "thunderbird" as launcher name when compiled from source. Some distros ship a customized launcher, archlinux ships with patched upstream launcher.
Seeing 'thunderbird' here on Fedora Core 4 test too
