GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 161632
Volume steps don't follow the set stepsize accurately.
Last modified: 2007-02-14 17:21:54 UTC
Check the value of the gconf key /apps/gnome_settings_daemon/volume_step. Decrease & increase the volume using the Volume Up/Down buttons and verify the stepsize. Also: open a monitoring mixer application (aumix, alsamixer, ...). Lower the volume an X number of times, increase the volume the same number of times... the resulting volume is lower than the starting volume. (Probably due to rounding errors). So when I dampen the volume if for example someone enters my room, I expect to be able to press the Volume Up button the same number of times again to restore the level, which isn't the case.
Not seeing this here. Info about the system/sound card etc?
I have a PowerMac Snapper soundcard in a Powerbook (TiBook) IV. I verify the volume levels using alsamixer. Currently my stepsize is set to 3, Volume up does +2, Volume down does -4, so 2 times up makes a down. :)
I have to acknowledge this problem, my stepsize is set to 6, when pressing volume up it goes up 5 and down takes it 7 down again.
