Hi I just installed GIMP and wanted to switch from Photoshop but it wont open
the file that Ive been working on. Help!!!

Im not sure where to upload the file so you can reproduce.

If it isn't too huge, you can attach it to the bug report by clicking on Create
a New Attachment below and following the instructions.  You should know, though,
that some PSD files contain things for which no documentation is freely
available, and GIMP can't open them.

You can attach it to this bug report (unless it is very large). Note however
that we can't guarantee that all PSD files can be imported properly. The PSD
file format is largely undocumented.

GIMP 2.2 seems to open the file just fine. Please try the pre2 release.

Already fixed in 2.2, marking as a duplicate, see the earlier bug report for
more info, and also bug #152728.
