The attached picture freezes gthumb when it tries to thumbnail it. qiv does not
work either to show it, but file correctly finds its type and eog is able to
display it.

Reproduce it by putting the file in a folder and trying to view that folder with
gthumb and scrolling to the place where the thumbnail should be.
