GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 157598
GCalctool does not adhere to Order of Operations
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Distribution: Fedora Core release Rawhide (Rawhide) Package: gcalctool Severity: enhancement Version: GNOME2.8.0 unspecified Gnome-Distributor: Red Hat, Inc Synopsis: GCalctool does not adhere to Order of Operations Bugzilla-Product: gcalctool Bugzilla-Component: general Bugzilla-Version: unspecified Description: GCalctool does not support the order of operations. Personally, I think that any calculator that claims to support a Scientific mode and does not support the arithmetic Order of Operations should be a source of embarassment. In fact, ALL calculators should support the Order of Operations. Heck, the GNOME Calculator program from Redhat 9 and earlier even supports the Order of Operations. The current GCalctool looks nice but releasing a calculator that does not support this basic rule of math just blows my mind. Having to use parenthesis for every product is a real hassle -- in other words, a real productivity killer. Heck, kids learn the Order of Operations from grade school! Why does this calculator NOT support a feature that is SO FUNDAMENTAL? Please, don't tell me that one person made the decision! Crap, this is the kind of stuff that we need to rectify on our beloved Linux desktop, and quickly! ------- Bug moved to this database by unknown@bugzilla.gnome.org 2004-11-07 12:51 ------- Unknown platform unknown.
