Description John Leach 2004-10-31 23:06:46 UTC
I'm using v2.6
The progress bar on the photo import dialog whilst downloading full photos from
my camera (Canon Powershot G3) does not work as I expect.

I expect it to show the overall download progress, i.e: how many more photos to
go or how much more data. Instead, in my case, it often just shows 100% the
whole time.
Comment 1 Emmanuel Touzery 2005-04-03 14:21:50 UTC
I confirm that on 2.6.3 with a canon powershot A80.
Comment 2 Rene.Samselnig 2006-12-28 20:54:45 UTC
I'm confirming that too on 2.7.9 with my Canon IXUS 65 and Canon EOS 300D. I guess this is just a problem with displaying the information, since the actual filename is always shown correctly. Also, the very last image is processed differently, it seems - the progressbar "works", but goes to 100% several times *strange*.

I'd like to add that the GUI is not responding while image importing. If I scroll down nothing happens - until the actual image is finished downloading, then it updates the GUI. This behaviour is annoying since my 300D has an USB 1.0 interface. This means, that a 4MB image takes about 15 seconds to download. Hell of a time without a responding GUI ;).

This is still happening with 2.9.1.
Comment 4 Michael Chudobiak 2006-12-30 01:39:52 UTC
This is partly related to bug 331663. libgphoto was supplying status updates for the photo import, but not for the deletes - hence the odd behaviour at the end of the imports.

It would be nice if the gui was more responsive during import.

This problem has been fixed in the development version. The fix will be available in the next major software release, that will be named 2.10.1. Thank you for your bug report.
