GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 152107
gnect, iagno, nibbles and robots needs sound love
Last modified: 2007-05-17 17:37:05 UTC
gnect includes a sound list, but no file= arguments are supplied, and indeed no sample wav files are given. I suggest that gnect simply not include a sound list until sample sounds are provided, otherwise they appear in the gnome-sound-properties capplet but are empty. I don't think we can expect most users to record their own .wav files and set them up for this.
Or maybe I should add sounds. In any event, this can get cleaned up after 2.8.0. is released (less than a week now !).
Tiny details, the game names "Gnect" (and "Gnibbles") in the soundlists are out- of-date...
Would it be a good idea to change the games to act a bit like gnometris and simply remove the sound lists altogether?
I have disabled sound support in gnect. Most of the actual sounds can probably be recycled from gnometris, but you are right about ditching the old way of doing things. I have changed the title of the bug to reflect this. Haven't fixed the nibbles problem yet (because I have to rush off to dinner). I should also check gnobots.
The nibbles issue is fixed (same with gnobots). I have now repurpose this bug to a "update the sound code" list. Games which need their sound code reworked are: gnobots iagno gnect nibbles Games which need sound are (in approxiamte order of priority): stones (code should work, but the sounds have been removed) ataxx (once merged with iagno ?) same-gnome (should be in the new version) gtali glines gnomine mahjongg blackjack aisleriot gnotski gnotravex
Closing bug, as gnometris, gnect, iagno, nibbles and robots now have received a overhaul with the new games-sound GStreamer API.
