Description eagsalazar 2004-08-01 01:55:52 UTC
I double click on "computer" on my desktop and nautilus will not open. Instead
I get a popup error saying:

"The Catalog view encountered an error while starting up.
The location cannot be displayed with this viewer."

I get the same error if try to type in computer:// in the location bar also.

This apparrently is related to having gthumb installed since gthumb has a
catalog view that nautilus tries to use. This is also probably related to
149094 since once I uninstalled gthumb nautilus started working on these special
folders but was still ignoring my default setting to use list view. I could be
that nautilus is always using an internal list for these locations to select the
views and the order of that list is (catalog, icon, list). I don't know.

Might be that nautilus uses the first alphabetically listed viewer as a default,
being Catalog (if installed)? Uninstalling gthumb solved the problem (phew),
making nautilus falling back to icon view (even though my gconf key says the
default view should be list_view. Does nautilus actually check for the gconf key
atm?
