When you try to open multiple images in eog (say using 'eog * &') it prompts
regarding how to handle this situation (see attached screenshot).

I would like to suggest some alternative wording.

The title should read:

Opening Multiple Images...

The text should read:

You are trying to open multiply images in eog. Would you like to view these
images in individual windows or would you prefer to see them as a collection in
a single window.

The buttons should read:

Individual Windows : Cancel : As a Collection

It might even be better if these two options (individual and collection) were
radio style options above the bottons and that the buttons read Cancel : OK. If
you were going to go with these method you could include a simple thumbnail
showing the difference between the two (one includes a set of image thumbnails
at the bottom, one doesn't).

It could also help to have the dialog include a "use this as the default
behavior" and/or a "don't ask in the future". This would allow the user to set
a default and the option to not have to confirm each time.

I think this might improve the usability of this dialog.

Current open multiple/single dialog

I find the current wording simpler and more straighforward than what you propose.

How about getting rid of the dialog entirely and always use the collection view
if there is more than one file? Would certainly keep things simpler.
If you want individual windows you can always create a new eog window and drag
and drop from the collection window.

Yeah, I could live with that.

Fixed in HEAD. No confirmation dialog anymore. With the new UI behavior, if you
open a single image, the collection will be the other images from the same
directory. If you try to open more than one image, the collection is composed by
the choosen images.
