Description pblouin 2004-07-08 17:49:58 UTC
Package: nautilus
Severity: normal
Version: 2.2.1
Synopsis: Attempt to browse SMB domain or workgroup crashes nautilus (Segmentation fault)
Bugzilla-Product: nautilus
Bugzilla-Component: general
BugBuddy-GnomeVersion: 2.0 (2.2.0.1)

Description:
Description of Problem:
After opening up nautilus by choosing the "Network Servers" item in the
Main Menu in Gnome and double-clicking on one of the listed SMB domains
an error, reading, "Application "nautilus" (process xxxx) has crashed
due to a fatal error. (Segmentation fault)."

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Open up "Network Servers" from the Main Menu in Gnome.
2. Wait for the list of SMB domains and workgroups to fully populate the
window.
3. Double-click any one of the SMB domains or workgroups.

Actual Results:
The actual results vary. Sometimes nautilus opens up the SMB domain or
workgroup just fine while other times it produces this error.

Expected Results:
The expected result is the consistent ability to browse SMB domains and
workgroups without having nautilus crash.

How often does this happen?
Perhaps 15% of the time the action of double-clicking the SMB domain or
workgroup crashes nautilus.

Additional Information:
Restarting the Gnome session will sometimes fix this problem and other
times restarting the system is required to resolve it. This crash event
has occurred with other applications open (i.e. Mozilla, gnome-terminal,
ethereal, etc.) and other times it is the only application open on the
desktop.

Debugging Information:

Backtrace was generated from '/usr/bin/nautilus'
