GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 145129
allowing unmounting by dropping to the trash
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
allow unmounting by dropping the filesystem icon (or the disk icon) to the trash. Eventually the trash icon should change or get an emblem to reflect the operation. For reference: see MacOS X trash.
This functionality appears to be ruled out by the HIG. See http://developer.gnome.org/projects/gup/hig/1.0/usabilityprinciples.html under "Create a Match Between Your Application and the Real World", the text that says, "On the other hand, a waste basket should not be used for anything other than holding discarded files. It should not be used, for example, to eject a removable disk such as a floppy or CD."
Oops. I didn't mean to mark this as needinfo. Sorry for the spam.
