GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 143761
Dangerous folder-moving behaviour
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
(I've tried this in Spatial mode) Let's assume you have one folder named "A" containing a folder named "X" and one folder named "B", also containing a folder named "X", but the latter "X" has different content from the former "X". If you move folder "X" from folder "B" into folder "A", nautilus asks if you want to overwrite "X" (in "A"). If you choose yes, then "X" in "A" really is overwritten, meaning that the _original content is wiped out_! If you try the same in Windows Explorer, you'll see, that the old content is _kept_ and the new is _added_, which I consider a much more sane behaviour. I can't really remember, but I think, nautilus 2.4 also got that right.
