GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 142240
gnome-volume-control does not handle ALSA boolean settings
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
When a boolean setting is available for an ALSA driver, it comes up in gnome-volume-control as a slider which cannot be moved. It should come up as a checkbox or something, or the slider should at least be draggable to 0 or 1 positions. I have a feature on my card ("External Amplifier") which must be disabled, but I can't set it using gnome-volume-control (I have to use gnome-alsamixer or amixer).
I can confirm that I see this too. Along with the slider which is immovable there is also a mute button. This can be clicked but does not affect the alsa setting. All boolean settings work correctly in gnome-alsamixer. My soundcard driver is snd-intel8x0 (Centrino chipset).
It's fixed in 2.7.x - but the boolean settings don't appear at all right now, I'll fix that for the next release.
Btw, this was already in the GStreamer bugzilla, so I'll dup this... *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 139588 ***
