GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 140878
ima adpcm encoded wavs are not supported
Last modified: 2008-11-29 09:15:57 UTC
try to play an ima adpcm encoded wav.
Created attachment 26982 [details] an ima adpcm wav file.
Bleh, this file is seriously f#cked. Chuncks don't align as required by the standard, which causes wavparse to parse it wrongly. This will take me a few days.
Quickfix in CVS.
I had a report recently that this is happening with fairly current Gstreamer: http://forum.mandriva.com/viewtopic.php?t=100207 As the user is running our latest stable release, that would be: gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly-0.10.9 gstreamer0.10-plugins-good-0.10.10 gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad-0.10.8 gstreamer0.10-plugins-base-0.10.20 as per the thread, installing the wavpack gstreamer plugin fixed it. But that shouldn't be needed...
Works fine with latest CVS and latest releases for me. Installing the wavpack plugin can't fix anything here so no idea what could've been wrong ;)
Oh well, let's just call it pixies for now then =) If I find any ima adpcm coded files lying around I'll see if I can reproduce on my 2009 system...
The attachment to this bug contains one
^^^^^ ||||| EPIC FIAL :) um, okay. let me see... hmm. totem-gstreamer doesn't seem to want to play it here, either. I wonder if we have a stray patch or something. will have to investigate a bit more.
