Description Rafael Jannone 2004-04-18 02:26:55 UTC
Spatial Nautilus does not provide a way of dragging the folder being visited
without first opening its parent.

This is easily verifiable: Just open any Nautilus window, such as your home
directory. Then you can't drag your home from anywhere. First, you must go up
one level, find your home inside this level, and then drag it.

Since the window manager is not considering drag-and-drop operation when it
comes to drag the whole window, I think Nautilus should provide a special
element in the current view, that could be dragged, representing the current
window. It could be a little folder icon somewhere. This could make much
easier to manage folders (ie: visiting a music album, and then dragging it to
Totem, etc)

Thanks for the bug report. This is a known issue and dup of bug 129421. There is
also the issue of getting properties and performing folder operations on the
current folder without having to go to the parent directory and right-click the
folder (which was touched upon in
http://mail.gnome.org/archives/nautilus-list/2004-May/msg00032.html ).
