GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 139374
Volume control forgets its settings
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
The volume control forgets which audio channel is has been set to control whenever the panel is closed and restarted. For example, after changing the channel to say PCM, logging out then back in brings back the panel with the volume control but it has been reset to Volume rather than having its previous value of PCM. How about using GCONF to stores the audio control setting?
I'm also seeing this with version 2.6.0. FWIW, I'm using an ALSA intel8x0 card. Some info: GNOME 2.6 ALSA 1.0.4 kernel 2.6.5-mm1 Gentoo Base System 1.4.4

Kevin? I think this is important as we're seeing an increasing amount of users on kernel-2.6.x where this bug is biting.
Sorry for my absence. My setup broke during an attempt to move to Fedora Test 2 :(. It should be back up within the next two days, so i'll be able to test the patch then. Thanks for looking into this bug, t'was kinda annoying ;).
patch works great. thank you
Is it/can it be committed, then?
please commit, i hate having to patch each gnome-applets release ;). Thanks again, Jorn.
committed.
Jorn have you comitted this to the 2-6 branch as well, (sorry for letting this slip btw). Kjartan any comments on comitting this to the 2-6 branch ?
If it's been tested well I see no harm in doing it on stable too.
Jorn would you mind checking this into the stable branch as well ?
Done
