GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 139044
RB ONLY works with GNOME sound server
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
I've configured Gstreamer to output to ESD, so RB doesn't work with ESDsink off. What I have to do now to get it to work is: a) turn off sound events and sound server b) start RB c) turn on sound events and sound server d) press play. If it wasn't for that error message, I wouldn't need steps a) and c) Please resolve this somehow. I'm using 0.7.2 (from Fedora devel)
That error message is there because you are almost certain to get crashes from doing this eventually. The problem isn't fixable from Rhythmbox unfortunately - it's a bug in libgnomeui essentially. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 119222 ***
Is there a way of removing the error then? Cause for me, once started it works GREAT! Just a pain starting up rhythmbox with doing settings and stuff...
Yeah, it works great because you disabled gnome sound events because of the error dialog. If you don't do that, rhythmbox will be crashy. So the error dialog seems useful
No, because I had to RESTART sound events after I started RB to get it to work. So the dialog just wasts my time.
You probably only need to have the sound server running, not the sound events.
Tested, and yes, that was true. Still, it works perfectly fine with sound events. Maybe the error message should be changed to simply a warning? That way, people like me can just click "OK", and those who get problems can turn off sound events.
