GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 138449
Add new "pathbar" widget as an optional top toolbar (used in new file selector for filesystem navigation)
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Description of Problem: Navigation of the filesystem (particularly when going many levels deep into the filesystem) using Nautilus in spatial mode (GNOME 2.6) can clutter the screen with too many windows, ultimately confusing things. In addition, even if the option to use only one window to navigate the filesystem is used, it is still hard to navigate back and forth or hop around to various levels in the filesystem or directory structure. Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Try using Nautilus in spatial mode and navigate to files deep in filesystem (at least 5+ levels deep) Actual Results: n/a Expected Results: n/a How often does this happen? Always Additional Information: Basically, all you have to do is reuse the new "pathbar" widget that was introduced in the GNOME 2.6 Fileselector Dialog in Nautilus. Allow the user to add the "pathbar" widget as a toolbar in Nautilus. The simplicity of spatial mode is still maintained and the need to open multiple windows is eliminated.
