Description Colin Marquardt 2004-03-15 22:00:26 UTC
Distribution: Debian testing/unstable
Package: control-center
Severity: normal
Version: GNOME2.5.90 unspecified
Gnome-Distributor: GNOME.Org
Synopsis: Keycodes don't work, just keysyms
Bugzilla-Product: control-center
Bugzilla-Component: Keybinding
Bugzilla-Version: unspecified
Description:
Description of Problem:
I'm trying to use the Front key on my Sun Type 6 USB keyboard as
"Raise obscured window, otherwise lower" (as it does on Solaris
and CDE/dtwm).

The Front key only has a keycode, no keysym. I see "0x8c" in the
Shortcut column
in the "Keyboard Shortcuts" dialog, but the key then doesn't have any
effect.
If I use the Stop key to bind that action, I see "XF86AudioStop" in the

Shortcut column, and the key then works.

Additional Information:

I get errors at Gnome startup about my XKB configuration,
maybe that's related?:

Error activating XKB configuration.
Probably internal X server problem.

X server version data:
The XFree86 Project, Inc
40300001
You are using XFree 4.3.0.
There are known problems with complex XKB configurations.
Try using simpler configuration or taking more fresh version of XFree
software.
If you report this situation as a bug, please include:
- The result of xprop -root | grep XKB
- The result of gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/xkb

Comment 1 Jody Goldberg 2004-03-31 22:13:08 UTC
This should work in 2.6.0.1
Comment 2 Colin Marquardt 2004-05-04 21:16:32 UTC
It's still not working for me with

$ gnome-keybinding-properties --version
Gnome gnome-keybinding-properties 2.6.1

What more information can I give?
