Description K. Miaowara 2004-03-05 02:13:56 UTC
wacom tablet puck stylus eraser
Gimp 2.0pre2 and Tablet PC problems

I have a Toshiba Portege m200 and have the Wacom Tablet Drivers (Version
4.78-9) running. When these wacom drivers are not running I do not have the
following problems but "corepointer" is the only device recognized and
pressure sensitivity is not enabled.

Two situations occur when the Wacom driver is running and gimp is started.

The first:
If a new composition is opened before the stylus and/or eraser touches the
screen or an existing file is opened, when the stylus/eraser is put within
the composition area a WindowsXP error reporting screen appears (titled
gimp-1.3.exe). It reports:

gimp-1.3.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry
for the inconvenience.
If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on
might be lost.
Please tell Microsoft about this problem.

The other situation:

When the stylus and/or eraser touches the screen before a composition is
opened, the device remains as "corepointer" even though other wacom
interfaces are listed and on the dos window, the following appears:

(gimp-1.3.exe:2692): Gdk-WARNING **: losing last reference to undestoryed
window

(gimp-1.3.exe:2692): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: file gobject.c: line 1320
<g_object_ref): assertion 'object->ref_count > 0' failed

(gimp-1.3.exe:2692): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: file gobject.c: line 1338
<g_object_ref): assertion 'object->ref_count > 0' failed

(gimp-1.3.exe:2692): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: file gobject.c: line 1338
<g_object_ref): assertion 'object->ref_count > 0' failed

After this appears, the composition window cannot be modified by any input
device though buttons and menus can be. (eg If pencil is selected the
cursor only moves as though no buttons are being pressed)

Thank you for time and consideration.

Comment 1 Sven Neumann 2004-03-05 12:57:09 UTC
Oh well, the tablet support on Windows is known to be buggy. Unless a
skilled Win32 hacker has a look into this, it will probably never be
fixed. Most probably the problem is in GTK+ or rather GDK. In my
opinion the bug report should be reassigned to GTK+.

Done what Sven suggested ...
