Description Sebastien Bacher 2004-01-31 13:32:04 UTC
This bug was originally reported in the Debian BTS :
http://bugs.debian.org/230302

"It could be useful to have such a command line, so that window mangers for
example can manage it with keybindings.

insert-in-playlist could be used with application such as streamtuner.

it could be useful having something to get an enhanced version of
--print-playing, with format strings like printf, using ID3 tags."

D-BUS will probably be the ultimate way to go with this, rather than command-line options, see also bug #138317.

All the suggestions here can now be done with dbus.

Fast-forward and rewind are just using "get elapsed time" and "set elapsed time", there are methods for Next and controlling playlists. There is also an example python script in remote/dbus/ which basically does what you want with an enhanced --print-playing.
